CUSTOM TATTOO PROCESS
My custom tattoos are collaborative by nature and drawn uniquely for you! To book a custom tattoo, you’ll want to have a general idea for your tattoo, images for reference, and a rough idea of size and placement. I want to fully listen to your ideas and wants, so please let me know any important aspects to include in your design. If you’re working with a budget, that’s helpful to know, too. Having a bit of an open mind for the artwork, placement and budget is recommended for the best result!
It’s my policy to not send designs in advance, and instead, I schedule extra time to talk over the design together in person. We’ll make sure you’re happy with your design before tattooing (and you’ll never be pressured to get a tattoo you don’t want). If you’re not vibing with the design as a whole, we can treat the appointment like a consult and reschedule the tattoo so I can do a redraw. A redraw with a new appointment time does require a new deposit ~ but it’s worth it to make sure you love your tattoo.
COST
Tattoos may be priced at a flat rate based on size, detail and placement, or may be priced at $150/hr. My pricing accounts for licensing and insurance costs, studio rent, materials and machinery, taxes, admin time, drawing time, and years of experience. Feel free to reach out for a price estimate!
A rough guide to pricing:
Micro/under 2” ~ $100 minimum
Credit card size ~ $100-175
Palm size ~ $175-300
Hand size ~ $300-525
Larger scale projects ~ completely case by case!
Cash is preferred. Card and Cashapp pay are the only payment methods accepted otherwise. Non-cash payments will have a processing fee of 3.5%. There is no ATM in the building, so if you plan to use cash, please grab it ahead of time!
A $50-$100 deposit is required. Deposits are non-refundable and they will contribute to the total cost. Deposits may be used toward a rescheduled appointment with at least 48 hours notice. Once the appointment is confirmed, significant changes to your idea/completely changing your idea may not be possible or may require an additional deposit.
♡♡♡Cash tips are always appreciated! I also love homemade/homegrown goods, sugar free red bull, chocolate, and pastries.
RESCHEDULING & LATENESS
Please give 48 hours notice minimum to reschedule. Your deposit will be good for up to 6 months toward a new appointment date. Last minute reschedules, cancellations (other than illness/emergency/weather) will lose the deposit. Please reschedule if you’re feeling sick, even if it’s the same day ~ I’d rather not get sick!
Please allow 10 minutes to park and pay for parking (or park in the free structure a block away on Ferry Street). I have a 15-minute grace period for lateness, and your appointment may be cancelled or rescheduled with a new deposit required. Please message me if you’re running behind!
No-call no-shows may not be rescheduled.
If I need to reschedule on my end due to illness/emergency/weather, I’ll offer you the choice of a new appointment time or a refund of your deposit.
GROUP TATTOOS
I can take groups for matching tattoos, a variety of small tattoos, or flash! I have space for the group to hang out, or folks can walk around downtown while waiting for their turn. Please don’t plan anything directly afterwards since group tattoos take more time! Group tattoos could either require one deposit per group or one deposit per person depending on design complexity.
REWORKS AND COVERUPS
I rework or cover up old tattoos not by me on a case-by-case basis. Please make sure to send a few photos - make sure the photos are clear and well-lit. It’s important to be flexible on the design for coverups and understand you may still be able to see some of the old tattoo in some cases. I cannot take away ink or scarring done by the previous artist.
PREPARING FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT
Bring a valid ID stating you are over 18
Grab cash (card is also accepted with a 3.5% fee)
Shower beforehand, and moisturize the area that will be tattooed! I do ask for any lower leg or ankle tattoos that you wash feet well and wear some clean socks.
Bring sweatshirt or blanket just in case ~ even if it’s hot outside
Bring one or two guests, or just yourself! If you have a group, guests can hang out or explore downtown while waiting.
I would strongly suggest bringing headphones, a book, a game, or something else to distract you in case I’m in the zone and not super talkative. WiFi is provided.
Wear clothing that will be comfortable and allow easy access to the tattoo area. Please ask me if you aren’t sure what to wear! Example, for back tattoos wear a halter top or bring a button down shirt to wear backwards.
Optional: snacks, water, anything else you need to be comfy!
DON’TS
Don’t schedule anything right after your tattoo since tattoos can take more time than expected
Don’t show up sick, on an empty stomach, hungover, or intoxicated.
Don’t bring babies or young children to your appointment.
Don’t get a tattoo if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or on blood thinners.
Don’t plan your tattoo on skin with active acne, sunburns, razor burns, open wounds, healing scars, psoriasis, any kind of infection, or skin that is very dry, rough or cracked.
Don’t schedule your tattoo during a time when you might be sunburned or hungover before coming in.
Do not schedule your tattoo less than 2 weeks before a trip where you will be swimming/in the sun.
RISK
There is always a small risk of infection and allergic reactions to ink when getting a tattoo. I follow all Oregon sanitation laws and standards, and I provide aftercare instructions. It is up to you to care for your tattoo during healing to prevent infection.
LONGEVITY
Ink will naturally spread a bit over time, and I want your tattoo to look amazing for the foreseeable future. The more detailed the design, the bigger your tattoo should be. Wearing sunscreen, moisturizing, and hydrating can help your tattoo look great long-term.
GIFT CARDS
Gift cards can be purchased in any amount by emailing me. Gift cards are non-refundable and valid for 2 years. I prefer that gift cards are purchased for folks who already know what my work looks like, so they’ll be ready to work with me!
ACCESSIBILITY & ACCOMMODATIONS
I am up a narrow flight of stairs that is unfortunately not wheelchair friendly.
I offer optional quiet appointments with limited talking outside of the tattoo designing/stenciling process.

TOUCH UPS
I offer free touch-ups up to a year after your flash or custom tattoo appointment. Please email me at ellierosetattoo@gmail.com to schedule a touch-up. Coverups, reworks, and very large projects may not be eligible for a free touch up due to the nature of those projects. No-call no-shows may not be rescheduled or may be charged a fee for a future touch up appointment.
